Getwash Laundry by the Kilo: Prices, How Many Clothes Fit in 1 Kg, and Pickup & Delivery (Complete 2026 Guide)

By the Getwash Laundry Team  |  Updated 11 October 2026  |  ±22 min read

Quick answer: Getwash laundry by the kilo comes in two services: Wash & Fold from Rp12,000 and Wash & Iron from Rp15,000 (minimum 3 kg, Regular takes about 4 working days). 1 kg of adult clothing is usually about 4–10 pieces, depending on fabric and cut. Pickup and delivery is no longer free since 20 June 2026: Rp8,000 (0–3 km), Rp15,000 (3–7 km), or Rp22,000 (over 7 km) per trip.

Handing your laundry to someone else always starts with three simple questions: what will it cost, will my clothes be safe, and how much hassle is involved. They sound small, but the answers decide whether you get your weekend back or come home to a surprising bill.

We wrote this guide as a complete reference to laundry by the kilo at Getwash Laundry. You will find a price list for every package, the total for a minimum order, an estimate of how many clothes fit in 1 kg, an honest answer on whether pickup and delivery is free, how our process works from pickup to drop-off, and how to choose the most economical service for your needs.

What Is Getwash Laundry by the Kilo and What Is Included

Laundry by the kilo is a washing service priced by the weight of your laundry in kilograms, not by the number of pieces. It makes the most sense for everyday clothing in volume, because you do not have to count each T-shirt, pair of trousers, or underwear. Your laundry is weighed, the rate is multiplied by the weight, and that is it.

Two services: Wash & Fold and Wash & Iron

At Getwash, laundry by the kilo is split into two services, each with three speed options:

  • Wash & Fold. Clothes are washed, dried, and neatly folded. Suitable for homewear, T-shirts, small towels, and anything that does not need to be pressed.
  • Wash & Iron. Everything in Wash & Fold plus ironing, so clothes come back crisp and ready to wear. The right choice for work shirts, uniforms, and anything you will wear straight to the office or school.

Laundry by the kilo, per-piece laundry, and dry cleaning: what is the difference?

These three terms are often mixed up, yet each answers a different need:

  • Laundry by the kilo is priced by weight. The most economical option for everyday clothing in volume.
  • Per-piece laundry is priced per item. Better for high-value garments or those needing special handling, because each piece is treated individually.
  • Dry cleaning cleans without water using a special solvent. It is used for suits, kebaya, silk, and delicate fabrics that must not get wet.

A simple rule: if you would not mind the garment being machine-washed with other everyday clothes, choose laundry by the kilo. If you hesitate, that is a sign it deserves to be treated piece by piece.

Who is laundry by the kilo best for?

The kilo model pays off most for people whose time is worth more than the cost of washing. Here is who tends to use it, from our experience serving retail customers and institutional clients.

Office workers and young professionals

Long workdays push washing, drying, and ironing into the weekend. With Wash & Iron Regular and a weekly pickup, shirts and work trousers come back pressed without you touching an iron.

Boarding-house residents and students

The 3 kg minimum equals roughly one to two weeks of clothing for one person. Collect your clothes, choose Wash & Fold Regular, and drop off yourself if an outlet is near to avoid the pickup fee.

Families with children

High volume is where kilo pricing shines: the more kilograms in one order, the smaller the pickup fee per kilogram. For little ones there is baby laundry by the kilo, processed separately in dedicated machines.

Guesthouse, small hotel, and hospitality owners

Getwash also serves institutional clients such as hotels, hospitals, and commercial facilities, and offers B2B partnerships for guesthouses and hospitality businesses with consistent delivery schedules. For regular volume, discuss a partnership directly with our team.

What clothes suit laundry by the kilo?

The kilo service is designed for everyday clothing, such as T-shirts, trousers, and underwear. Beyond that, we recommend reading each garment's care label, because the kilo process uses a standard wash cycle and machine drying. Details are in the process section below.

Items not included in laundry by the kilo

Certain items are not suited to a standard cycle and are handled through specialist services. Some Getwash specialist services commonly used as alternatives:

  • Dry cleaning for suits, kebaya, silk, and other delicate fabrics that must not get wet.
  • Wet cleaning for delicate formalwear that is still safe to wash in water with eco-friendly detergent.
  • Baby laundry by the kilo with food-grade, fragrance-free and dye-free detergent, dedicated washing machines, and steam ironing.
  • Specialist services for shoes, bags, bedcovers, curtains, carpets, helmets, and outdoor gear.

Basic terms you should know

  • 3 kg minimum per order.
  • Every customer is processed separately. Your laundry is never mixed with other customers' laundry, for hygiene.
  • Gentle liquid detergent made in Germany, kind to skin.
  • Pocket check before washing. Anything left behind is stored and returned.
  • Rewash guarantee if the result is not as expected.

Getwash Laundry by the Kilo Prices 2026

Below is the official Getwash laundry-by-the-kilo price list as shown on our service page. All packages apply with a 3 kg minimum.

Title: Getwash laundry by the kilo prices: Wash & Fold and Wash & Iron - Description: Getwash laundry by the kilo prices: Wash & Fold Regular Rp12,000, Express Rp18,000, Sat Set Rp30,000; Wash & Iron Regular Rp15,000, Express Rp25,000, Sat Set Rp35,000, 3 kg minimum

Figure 1. Getwash laundry by the kilo prices: Wash & Fold and Wash & Iron

Regular, Express, and Sat Set: what is the difference?

  • Regular (±4 working days). The most economical choice for routine laundry that is not urgent.
  • Express (±1 working day). For sudden needs: clothes for a trip, an event, or tomorrow's workday.
  • Sat Set (±8 hours). The fastest. Orders received after 1:00 pm are completed the next day.

When will your clothes be back? Count working days

The Regular estimate (±4 working days) is often misread as 4 calendar days. Assuming Monday–Friday working days, it looks like this:

  • Order on Monday morning, back around Friday.
  • Order on Wednesday, back around the following Monday.
  • Order on Friday, back around the following Thursday.

So if you need clothes for the weekend or Monday morning, order early in the week or choose Express. Estimates may change with volume and type of laundry.

Total for the 3 kg minimum order

Because the minimum order is 3 kg, these are the lowest totals for each package (excluding pickup and delivery):

Wash & Fold, 3 kg

  • Regular: 3 × Rp12,000 = Rp36,000
  • Express: 3 × Rp18,000 = Rp54,000
  • Sat Set: 3 × Rp30,000 = Rp90,000

Wash & Iron, 3 kg

  • Regular: 3 × Rp15,000 = Rp45,000
  • Express: 3 × Rp25,000 = Rp75,000
  • Sat Set: 3 × Rp35,000 = Rp105,000

The gap between Wash & Iron and Wash & Fold is consistent: Rp3,000 per kg at Regular, Rp7,000 at Express, and Rp5,000 at Sat Set. In other words, ironing is cheapest at Regular speed. If your clothes will be ironed anyway, Wash & Iron Regular is almost always cheaper than Express without ironing.

Four common mistakes when calculating laundry costs

  1. Forgetting pickup and delivery. The per-kg price on the list does not include the zone fee. Calculate your whole order.
  2. Choosing Express for everything. Separate what is truly urgent from what can wait four days.
  3. Sending less than the minimum. Orders under 3 kg still need to meet the minimum. Better to collect enough.
  4. Comparing price without comparing what is included. Ask whether laundry is processed separately, which detergent is used, and whether there is a guarantee.

Is this expensive? Comparison with the market

A fair question. For comparison, a CNBC Indonesia survey in May 2026 in Kalibata, South Jakarta, found regular wash-by-the-kilo at neighbourhood laundries at around Rp8,000–9,000 per kg and express at around Rp15,000–20,000 per kg, after rises of Rp1,000–2,000 due to higher plastic and gas prices.

“Yes, we raised it. Since plastic got more expensive, we had no choice but to raise prices by Rp1,000.”

— Gita, laundry business owner in Kalibata, quoted by CNBC Indonesia, 5 May 2026 (translated from Indonesian)

Getwash Wash & Fold Regular (Rp12,000) is indeed about Rp3,000–4,000 above that range. That difference pays for things that are not always part of cheap laundry by the kilo:

  • Orders processed separately per customer, not pooled in one big machine.
  • Gentle liquid detergent made in Germany, not bulk powder.
  • A pocket check and sorting before washing.
  • A rewash guarantee if the result falls short.
  • An order number and status tracking at getwashlaundry.id/id/lacak, plus a digital receipt.

In the end, the cheapest laundry by the kilo is not always the most economical. One favourite shirt that fades or shrinks from a careless process usually costs more than a Rp3,000-per-kilogram difference.

Price per piece: an insight rarely calculated

Because pricing is per kilogram, price per piece depends on how light your clothes are. Assuming 1 kg holds about 5–7 thin T-shirts (see the next section):

  • Wash & Fold Regular: Rp12,000 ÷ 5–7 T-shirts = about Rp1,700–2,400 per T-shirt.
  • Wash & Iron Regular: Rp15,000 ÷ 5–7 T-shirts = about Rp2,100–3,000 per T-shirt, already ironed and folded.

For heavy items like jeans (about 1.4–2 pieces per kg), price per piece rises to Rp6,000–8,600 on Wash & Fold Regular. That is why mixing many light garments with a few heavy ones is the most efficient way to use kilo pricing.

Sample monthly budgets for laundry by the kilo

To make costs concrete, here is a simple calculation for three usage patterns with Wash & Fold Regular (Rp12,000/kg), 4 weeks per month, Zone 1 pickup and delivery (Rp16,000 round trip), no promo:

Single person, 3 kg per week

  • Drop off yourself: Rp36,000 per week, about Rp144,000 per month.
  • With Zone 1 pickup and delivery: Rp52,000 per week, about Rp208,000 per month.

Couple, 5 kg per week

  • Drop off yourself: Rp60,000 per week, about Rp240,000 per month.
  • With Zone 1 pickup and delivery: Rp76,000 per week, about Rp304,000 per month.

Family, 10 kg per week

  • Drop off yourself: Rp120,000 per week, about Rp480,000 per month.
  • With Zone 1 pickup and delivery: Rp136,000 per week, about Rp544,000 per month.

Insight: collect two weeks, not one

A couple ordering 5 kg weekly with pickup and delivery pays Rp304,000 per month. If they collect and send 10 kg every two weeks, the total is Rp272,000 per month, saving Rp32,000 or about 10% without changing how much laundry they do. The only condition: have spare clothes for two weeks.

Laundry by the kilo or washing at home? Count the value of your time

Washing at home is not free: there is electricity, water, detergent, drying space, and above all time. As an illustration, assume washing, hanging, carrying, folding, and ironing 3 kg of clothes takes about 3 hours. Then Wash & Iron Regular for 3 kg (Rp45,000) equals Rp15,000 per hour of time you get back, and Wash & Fold Regular (Rp36,000) equals Rp12,000 per hour.

If an hour of your time is worth more than that, laundry by the kilo is cheaper, even before counting electricity, water, and detergent. Conversely, if you enjoy the routine or your clothes need special treatment, washing at home remains a sensible choice.

How Many Clothes Are in 1 Kg of Laundry?

This is the question that comes up most before people hand over their first laundry. The short answer: 1 kg of adult clothing is roughly 4–10 pieces. The range is wide because a thin T-shirt and a thick jacket weigh very differently. For baby clothes, the count can be twice as high per kilogram.

Estimated pieces per kilogram

Title: Estimated weight and pieces per 1 kg of laundry - Description: Estimated number of clothes per 1 kg of laundry: T-shirts 5–7 pieces, shirts 3–4, cotton trousers 2–3, jeans about 2, hoodies 2–3, baby clothes 7–12

Figure 2. Estimated weight and pieces per 1 kg of laundry

Figures are average estimates and vary by fabric, size, and brand. Sources are listed in the Sources section.

Why do the numbers vary?

Three things affect the weight of a single garment most:

  • Fabric type. Thin cotton, rayon, and linen are far lighter than denim, wool, or fleece.
  • Size. An XXL T-shirt can weigh twice as much as a size S.
  • Cut. Long sleeves, thick collars, and double pockets all add weight.

Common mistakes when estimating laundry weight

  • Counting pieces, not weight. Ten thin T-shirts and ten thick jackets differ many times over in kilograms.
  • Forgetting damp clothes weigh more. Clothes that are not fully dry can be heavier than when dry. Hand over dry clothes so your estimate matches reality.
  • Ignoring bed sheets, towels, and thin blankets. These household items often add more weight than expected, so the total can exceed your clothing count.

Sample contents of 3 kg (the minimum order)

To avoid pure theory, here are two examples of laundry close to 3 kg, using the average weights above:

Example 1: one adult's week

7 T-shirts (±1.2 kg) + 3 cotton trousers (±1.3 kg) + 1 pair of jeans (±0.6 kg) ≈ 3.1 kg. For underwear and socks, add 0.2–0.4 kg.

Example 2: work clothes

5 shirts (±1.5 kg) + 4 work trousers (±1.7 kg) ≈ 3.2 kg. Since they will be worn to the office, a Wash & Iron package is usually the better fit.

What about baby clothes?

According to our team's estimate, 1 kg of baby clothes can hold up to twice as many pieces as adult clothing, because they are small and thin. That is why baby laundry by the kilo is priced differently: not only because of the piece count, but also because it uses special food-grade detergent and separate washing machines.

Tip: weigh your laundry at home

Weigh yourself holding the laundry basket, then subtract your own weight. It is accurate enough to tell whether your laundry passes the 3 kg minimum before you book a pickup.

Pickup and Delivery for Laundry by the Kilo: Free or Paid?

The direct answer: since 20 June 2026, Getwash pickup and delivery is no longer free. The rate is charged per trip based on the distance between your address and the nearest Getwash outlet. Older information stating free pickup for certain areas and weights no longer applies.

Pickup and delivery rates by zone

  • Zone 1 (0–3 km): Rp8,000 per trip
  • Zone 2 (3–7 km): Rp15,000 per trip
  • Zone 3 (over 7 km): Rp22,000 per trip

One complete order involves two trips (pickup and delivery), so the total is Rp16,000, Rp30,000, or Rp44,000. The full explanation of the rate adjustment is in our article “Getwash Laundry Pickup and Delivery Price Update.

The real cost per kilogram after pickup and delivery

This is the part people rarely calculate. The pickup rate is fixed per trip, so the more laundry in one order, the smaller its impact per kilogram. Example with Wash & Fold Regular (Rp12,000/kg):

Title: Effective cost per kg of Wash & Fold Regular including round-trip pickup and delivery - Description: Effective laundry-by-the-kilo cost per kg including pickup and delivery: 3 kg Zone 1 Rp17,300, 5 kg Rp15,200, 10 kg Rp13,600; Zone 2 Rp22,000, Rp18,000, Rp15,000; Zone 3 Rp26,700, Rp20,800, Rp16,400

Figure 3. Effective cost per kg of Wash & Fold Regular including round-trip pickup and delivery

Insights from this calculation

  • In Zone 1, pickup and delivery adds about 44% to a 3 kg order (Rp16,000 on Rp36,000), but only about 13% to a 10 kg order (Rp16,000 on Rp120,000).
  • In Zone 3, a 10 kg order with pickup and delivery (Rp16,400/kg) is still cheaper per kilogram than a 3 kg order in Zone 1 (Rp17,300/kg).
  • So collecting laundry for several days and sending it at once is almost always cheaper than booking repeated pickups for 3 kg.

When should you drop off yourself?

If an outlet is on your daily route, dropping off yourself means no zone rate. This is most sensible for small orders (3–4 kg) in far zones, where pickup takes the biggest share of cost. For addresses outside the service area, you can also send laundry through an online courier of your choice.

Three ways to get laundry to Getwash

  • Pickup and delivery by our team. The most convenient, charged the zone rate per trip.
  • Drop off and collect yourself at an outlet. No zone rate. Good if an outlet is on your route.
  • Online courier of your choice. For addresses outside the service area. Courier cost is yours and follows the courier's rates.

No single option is always best. The best one fits your volume, distance, and time.

Payment and tracking

You can pay by cash, bank transfer, e-wallet (GoPay, OVO, DANA, LinkAja), and credit or debit card. Track your order at getwashlaundry.id/id/lacak using the order number from the digital receipt we send by email or WhatsApp.

How Getwash Laundry by the Kilo Works, from Pickup to Delivery

Knowing what happens to your laundry once the door closes is the most important part of choosing a laundry. Here is our workflow, including the small details that decide the final result.

Title: Getwash laundry by the kilo process, step by step - Description: Getwash laundry by the kilo process: pickup, sort and pocket check, wash with gentle detergent, dry, iron or fold, deliver

Figure 4. Getwash laundry by the kilo process, step by step

1. Booking and pickup

You book via the website, WhatsApp, or the Getwash app, then fill in the Pickup & Delivery form. Customer Service tells you the zone and rate for your address when you order. Prepare clothes sorted by colour and type, empty all pockets, and we provide a dedicated bag for your clothes.

2. Sorting and pocket check

All clothes are checked during sorting, including pockets. If anything is left behind, we store it safely and contact you or return it at delivery. Our team also checks the condition of garments when they arrive at the outlet.

3. Washing with gentle liquid detergent

We wash on a normal water-temperature cycle using gentle liquid detergent made in Germany, which keeps colours bright and is safe on skin. Each customer's laundry is processed separately.

4. Drying, ironing, and folding

Clothes are dried with machine dryer heat. In Wash & Iron, they are then ironed; both end with neat folding.

5. Delivery and receipt

The finished order is delivered according to the estimate, and you can follow every stage with your order number.

“No. Each customer's laundry is processed separately to maintain hygiene.”

— Official Getwash answer to “Will my clothes be mixed with other customers' laundry?” (translated from Indonesian)

Customer experience

The process above only matters if it is felt by the customer. Google Maps reviews are the best mirror.

“I am superbly impressed with the quality of work from Getwash Laundry. The staff are super friendly. They offer variety of services. Their price is amazingly affordable. And the turnaround time is quick. As you can see, I dropped off tons of clothes, including a comforter (blanket). Everything is folded very neatly and smells fresh. I love it!! This was my first visit and will not be my last. I’m definitely coming back and become a regular. Thank you"

—Ongke Murdono, Getwash Laundry Google Maps review

Why sorting and drying decide the result

Laundry results are decided by a few simple things that are often overlooked. Understanding them helps you prepare your laundry properly, and helps us deliver what you expect.

Colour transfer happens in the water, not the machine

New dark clothes, especially denim, red, and black, tend to release dye over the first few washes. That dye dissolves in water and sticks to light fabric. That is why separating whites and colours into different bags helps a lot, especially for new clothes.

Drying heat affects natural fibres

Natural fibres like cotton and wool can shrink with heat and movement, while synthetic fibres tend to be more stable. Because we dry with machine dryer heat, clothes labelled “do not tumble dry” or “dry clean only” need to be set aside. It is not just about liability: it is the most reliable way to protect the size and shape of your clothes.

Liquid detergent dissolves more easily

Liquid detergent dissolves fully at normal water temperature, leaving no powder residue on fabric, which can irritate sensitive skin. That is why we use gentle liquid detergent, and why we treat that choice as part of quality, not a technical detail.

What about stubborn stains?

Standard laundry by the kilo handles everyday dirt, but some stains need special treatment. Stain-removal services at Getwash are an add-on and must be requested when booking. We use professional spotting agents from SEITZ (Germany) and A.L. Wilson, and Getwash is their official distributor.

  • Colour-bleed stains: new stains (under 7 days) have roughly a 75–90% chance, old stains roughly 30–60%, adding 7–14 days.
  • Ink stains: new stains (under 5 days) roughly 75–90%, old stains roughly 30–60%, adding 3–5 days.
  • Rust stains: new stains roughly 70–90%, old stains roughly 25–60%, adding 5–7 days.

There is no 100% guarantee, and we state the risks openly before processing. The key to the best result is simple: the sooner a stain is treated, the better its chances.

Myths and facts about laundry by the kilo

Myth: laundry by the kilo always ruins clothes quickly

Fact: damage usually happens when garments unsuited to a standard cycle (dry-clean-only labels, colour-bleeding fabrics) get mixed into one load, or when customers' laundry is not processed separately. Setting aside sensitive garments and choosing a laundry that processes per customer reduces that risk.

Myth: 3 kg is tiny

Fact: 3 kg is about 15–21 thin T-shirts or 4–6 pairs of jeans. For one person, that is roughly one to two weeks of clothes.

Myth: laundry pickup is always free

Fact: many laundries adjust rates as fuel costs rise. At Getwash, pickup and delivery has been paid by zone since 20 June 2026, but the cost per kilogram shrinks as the order gets bigger.

Myth: the cheapest laundry is always the most economical

Fact: compare what is included in the price, not just the number. Separate processing, gentle detergent, pocket checks, and a rewash guarantee are costs you cannot see in a cheap price.

What to prepare for the best result

  • Separate whites and colours into two bags if you want them washed separately.
  • Set aside dry-clean-only garments (suits, kebaya, silk) and those that bleed colour. We check fabrics as best we can before washing, but it is not possible to read the label of every item in a load of many kilograms.
  • Empty your pockets and remove valuables.
  • Collect on time. Items not collected more than 30 calendar days from the invoice date incur a daily storage fee (1% per day if unpaid, 0.5% per day if paid), and items not collected after 60 days are considered abandoned.

Checklist: 6 steps before handing over your laundry

  1. Weigh it and make sure it is at least 3 kg.
  2. Empty all pockets and remove valuables.
  3. Separate whites and colours into two bags if needed.
  4. Set aside dry-clean-only items and those that bleed colour.
  5. Mark stubborn stains and request a stain add-on when booking.
  6. Make sure your address and phone number are reachable, then keep the order number from the digital receipt.

Limits of liability you should understand

Garments that shrink, bleed, or fade after being washed according to the care label and machine dried are outside Getwash's responsibility. Conversely, if the wash result is not as expected, we rewash at no extra charge. We treat this kind of transparency as part of the service, not a footnote.

How to Choose a Service, Save Money, and Book

Wash & Fold or Wash & Iron?

  • Choose Wash & Fold for T-shirts, homewear, underwear, towels, and jersey fabrics that do not need pressing.
  • Choose Wash & Iron for shirts, blouses, uniforms, and work trousers you will wear straight away.
  • A mix of both? Order two separate packages, or ask Customer Service about a mixed order.

Regular, Express, or Sat Set?

  • Regular if you have spare clothes for at least 4–5 days.
  • Express if you need clothes within 1 working day.
  • Sat Set only for urgent needs, and make sure the order arrives before 1:00 pm to finish the same day.

A practical rule: if the cost difference between Express and Regular (Rp6,000 per kg for Wash & Fold, Rp10,000 per kg for Wash & Iron) is smaller than the value of having your clothes sooner, Express is worth it. Otherwise, Regular is almost always the best choice.

Situation guide

Rainy season and clothes that will not dry

In humid weather, clothes hung out for long risk a musty smell. Because our laundry is machine dried, laundry by the kilo is a practical fix, and Regular is enough if you have spare clothes.

Coming home from holiday with a suitcase of dirty clothes

Travel clothes tend to pile up in large amounts at once, the ideal condition for kilo pricing because pickup cost per kilogram becomes small. Set aside formal or delicate items for dry cleaning.

Busy weeks and last-minute needs

If tomorrow brings an important meeting or event, use Express or Sat Set only for the clothes you truly need and send the rest in a Regular package. Splitting orders by urgency is cheaper than sending everything at top speed.

School uniforms and regular work clothes

A fixed weekly pattern suits Wash & Iron Regular. Schedule pickup early in the week so uniforms return before the weekend, and keep one spare set.

Five ways to save on laundry by the kilo

  1. Collect laundry to 5–10 kg before booking a pickup, because pickup cost per kg drops sharply.
  2. Choose Regular for routine laundry.
  3. Drop off yourself if an outlet is on your route.
  4. Order together with neighbours or others at the same address.
  5. Set aside dry-clean-only garments from the start so you avoid reorders or extra treatment.

Six questions to ask any laundry

Whether or not you choose Getwash, these questions help you judge a laundry by the kilo objectively:

  1. Is my laundry processed separately from other customers'?
  2. Which detergent is used, and at what temperature are clothes washed?
  3. Is there a pocket check and sorting before washing?

Conclusion

Getwash laundry by the kilo is built for people who want everyday laundry handled without drama: Wash & Fold from Rp12,000, Wash & Iron from Rp15,000, 3 kg minimum, with separate processing per customer and gentle liquid detergent made in Germany. 1 kg holds roughly 4–10 pieces of adult clothing. Pickup and delivery is now paid by zone (Rp8,000–Rp22,000 per trip), but its impact per kilogram shrinks sharply when you collect more laundry.
